Fallen Fruit of Atlanta, Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, Oct 19-Dec 14, 2013

Fallen Fruit is the Los Angeles-based collaborative team of David Burns and Austin Young, whose various projects use fruit as a filter to examine distinct places and histories, issues of representation and ownership, and address questions of public versus private space.

Titled Porcelain (2011), is part of a series dealing with the exterior and interior collapse of a Southern women's identity. The image was appropriated from one of two film adaptations of Tennessee William's' play The Glass Menagerie. The still print was over-painted with Diamond Dust. It is a diptych and it is a monotype. I particularly like how Did Austin and Davis Burns hung the works facing in the corner.
